About
Paul Mijksenaar (1944) graduated as product designer at the Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam in 1965.
He started designing household products in combination with graphic design and writing about information design.
From the start he got interested in wayfinding and made this to his core activity since.
In 1977 he joined the staff of Ootje Oxenaar at Delft University and whom he succeeded as professor in visual Information Design in 1992. From 1981-1986 he worked part-time as senior designer at Total Design in Amsterdam.
In 1986 he founded Bureau Mijksenaar, now Mijksenaar Wayfinding Experts in Amsterdam. In 2014 he transferred the ownership to Herbert Seevinck and Rijk Boerma but stayed on as a consultant and designer to this day.
